EBS-2600

The EBS-2600 is a compact high-resolution drop-on-demand printer with a piezo printhead, built to print sharp codes, text and graphics directly onto absorbent surfaces: cardboard cartons, wooden pallet blocks, crates and timber. It is ready to print within seconds of power-on and is operated from its 5.7" colour touchscreen or remotely from any web browser.

The printhead has 510 nozzles at 180 dpi, for a print height of up to 71.8 mm at speeds of up to 60 m/min. It prints text in any font and size (matrix and TrueType fonts, Unicode UTF-8 with diacritics), monochrome PNG graphics, lines, rectangles and ellipses, and all common 1D and 2D codes — EAN-13, GS1-128, Code 128, ITF-14, GS1 DataBar, Data Matrix, QR, PDF417 and more. Date and time in any format, up/down and cascading counters, and data from external devices or text files are filled in automatically.

EBS developed oil-based inks for the EBS-2600 that adhere strongly to porous materials and keep the mark dark and durable. They are solvent-free and odour-neutral, and a 500 ml bottle covers up to 500,000 prints of a 500 × 500-dot image at 10% coverage. The stainless-steel printer is built for 24/7, three-shift operation and draws a maximum of 15 W.

On the line it replaces label printers on shipping cartons, and the gas or electric branding irons used on pallets and wooden packaging. It is a licensed EPAL marking system for Euro pallets, and two printers can be synchronised to mark both sides of a pallet in one pass. ZPL emulation lets it take label designs from Zebra or NiceLabel software.

Connectivity covers Ethernet, USB and RS-232/RS-485, a built-in photocell plus inputs for an external trigger and a shaft encoder, and outputs for a signal tower and for stopping the conveyor. It has 4 GB of internal memory, multi-level user access, and support for MySQL, SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases; projects can also be prepared offline in the EBS Web User Interface editor on Windows.
